THE 7 CHAKRAS
Today we are going to be talking all about the seven chakras. This is definitely yoga-based, and it is something that I have been wanting to research more ever since I started up with my yoga. Many people mentioned the seven chakras a lot, and I tried to dig up a little more about them. So I dove into them, and I thought it would be fun to share with you.
The chakras are the seven centers of spiritual power in the human body. They date back all the way from 1500 and 500 BC, and they originated in India. They are also part of the oldest texts called the Vedas, which are scriptures of Hinduism. Each chakra corresponds with a different organ in your body. They take into play your emotional physical, psychological, and spiritual states of consciousness. It’s kind of like all aspects of the human body combined into one. When these different chakras are opened and aligned, they are in this state of flow. To reach the flow state, you can definitely open and balanced each different chakra
I’m going to go through all of the seven chakras, like the location of where they are, foundation, color, a yoga pose that you can do to tap into them, and the Mudra of each chakra. It’s basically a hand position that signals reflexes to the brain. The responsibility of each chakra, as well as signs to know if they’re open and balanced, or overactive, or if they are blocked. As well as some activities that you can do to open and balanced each different chakra.
So I’m going to go ahead and start with the first chakra. And the first chakra is your root chakra. This chakra is located at the base of the spine. It’s part of the first three vertebrae of the pelvic floor. So the foundation of this chakra is essential to trust. Just because it is the closest to the earth. The color of the root chakra is red. The yoga pose used with this chakra is the tree pose, which you can do to open and balance this chakra. The Mudra of this chakra is taking your index finger and touching it to your thumb. Having your arms straight out in both hands on the knees.
The responsibility of this chakra is stability, structure, safety, security, and survival. Some signs to know that this chakra is opened is feeling grounded. Having a sense of ease, less worrying, and fewer fears. Having this chakra overactive stimulates feelings of greed, power, and materialism. Some signs that this chakra is blocked is that you have a lot of fears or anxiety. Some activities you can do to open and balance your root chakra are to ground, basically placing your feet directly on the Earth’s surface. Another thing you could do is take a walk or spend time in a garden nurturing and growing plants.
The second chakra is going to be your sacral chakra. It’s located above the pubic bone and below your navel. The foundation is creativity and sexuality. And the color is orange. The yoga position that you can do to open and balance your sacral chakra is the goddess pose. The Mudra for this chakra is placing a palm on palm on your lap, facing up. Taking your right palm on top of your left palm. Some ways to know that this chakra is opened in a line are feelings of passion, openness, creativity, and fulfillment. Some signs that this chakra is blocked are lack of creativity, low libido, isolation over compulsiveness, uninspired, and feelings of guilt. So signs to know that this chakra is overactive if sexual addiction, manipulation, and self-fulfillment.
Some activities you can do to open and balance this chakra a little more is to go outside in the moonlight near open water and dancing. These activities can open this chakra.
The third chakra is the solar plexus. The solar plexus is located just below your chest in between the navel and the ribcage. The foundation of this chakra is wisdom and power. The color is yellow. The yoga pose that you can do to open and balance the Solar plexus is a warrior pose. And the mudra is placing your hand between your heart and your stomach, crossing your thumbs with your fingers touching. So sign to know that this chakra is open is confidence, drive ambition, and positive self-image. Some sign to know that this chakra is blocked is low self-esteem, shame, lack of direction, feeling inferior, indecisiveness, and victim mentality.
symptoms to know that this chakra is overactive are feelings of perfectionism, being too critical, being power-hungry, and having a lot of control issues. Some activities that you can do to open this chakra are belly breath, and being in the sunlight.
The fourth chakra is the heart chakra. This chakra is located in the center of the chest. The foundation is all about love and healing. The color is green. The yoga position that you can do to open and balance your heart chakra is the camel pose. The mudra is taking your right-hand index and thumb touching at the heart center, and your left hand is doing the same thing but is on the left knee.
The responsibilities of the heart chakra are basically when your physical and spiritual needs meet.
Feelings of love, awareness awakening and connectedness are also some responsibilities that the heart chakra brings. Some signs to know that this chakra is open are feelings of love and compassion, tolerance, peace, and high vibrational energy. Ways to see that you have high vibration is that you are getting what you’re giving. to know that this chakra is blocked are feelings of grief, intolerance, hatred, and trust issues.
Signs that this chakra is overactive are feelings of jealousy, codependence, and lack of trust, giving too much, over apologizing, and generous.
activities that you can do to align this chakra is being out in nature, and being around children and animals.
The fifth chakra is your throat chakra. The throat chakra is located just in the center of your neck. The foundation is communication, and the color is blue. The yoga pose that you can do to open up your throat chakra is the shoulder stand. The mudra is placing your hand by your stomach, interlacing your fingers, and having your thumbs touch. Some responsibilities that this chakra brings you is truth and self-expression. Some ways to know that this chakra is open are communication, speaking the truth, and being able to have excellent listening skills.
There are some ways to know that this chakra is blocked, that are for instance, being misunderstood, secretive, lack of attention in focus, and dishonesty. Ways to know that this chakra is overactive is being very loud, interrupting people, being very opinionated, gossiping, and using harsh words. An activity that you can do to open and balance this chakra is to journal.
Third eye chakras
The sixth chakra is the third eye chakra. The third eye chakra is located in the center of your forehead between your eyebrows. The foundation is awareness, and the color is indigo. A yoga pose that you can do to open and balanced your third eye is a downward dog. The Mudra is located in the front of your lower chest, you’re placing your middle finger standing up, and touching others bent at the first joint.
The responsibilities of this chakra are intuition, spiritual awareness, wisdom, and insight. Some ways to know that this chakra is open is intuition, clear vision, seeing beyond the physical dimension, and having clear thoughts. Ways to know that this chakra is blocked is poor judgment, illusion, lack of imagination, lack of foresight, and only being able to see a physical point of view rather than looking beyond just the physical insight. Way to know that this chakra is overactive is hallucinations, seeing spirits, bad nightmares, and obsessiveness. Some activities you can do to open and balanced this chakra are starting a dream journal and being out underneath the Stars.
The final and last chakra is your crown chakra. This is located on the top of your head. The foundation is spirituality, and the color is violet. The yoga pose that you can do or try is the headstand. The mudra is placing your hand in front of your stomach, fingers are interlaced, and your pinkies point up. The crown chakra’s responsibility is pure cosmic energy, expansiveness, and connection to your higher self. Some signs to know that this chakra is open are faith, Universal love, awareness, understanding, and wisdom, alignment, being consciously aware, and knowing that you are more than yourself. However, you still are part of one whole universe, knowing your purpose and having a personal destiny.
Some ways to know that this chakra is blocked is earth attachment, psychological problems such as depression or anxiety, disconnection, and learning difficulties. Some signs of an overactive crown chakra are obsessiveness, spiritual addiction, un-groundless, this being judgmental, dogmatic, and isolation. An activity that you can do to open and balance your crown chakra is sit in stillness and silence, which you can do through meditation or just simply sitting down and being stone.
